The government said the Real Time Governance Society (RTGS) has integrated more than 14,750 CCTV cameras across the state through the CCTV360 platform, enabling police to analyze vehicle movements, identify travel patterns, generate real-time alerts and speed up investigations using artificial intelligence.
“Over the last four months, RTGS CCTV360 has assisted police in recovering 80 stolen vehicles, tracing 73 missing persons and apprehending 52 accused involved in various criminal cases,” the government said in a press release on Monday.
The government said that the CCTV360 platform is transforming policing in Andhra Pradesh by enabling faster investigations, improving crime detection and enhancing public safety through technology-driven surveillance.
Citing a recent case in Guntur, the government said a scooter stolen from the Pattabhipuram police station limits was traced after the vehicle’s registration number was fed into the CCTV360 system.
The AI platform detected the scooter moving through a major junction in Guntur and generated a real-time alert, enabling police to intercept and arrest the suspect.
During interrogation, the accused confessed to stealing seven other vehicles, helping police crack multiple vehicle theft cases through a single investigation, said the press release.
The government said the platform also played a key role in tracing a six-month-old infant that was abducted from a pavement in Chirala in Bapatla district, while the child’s mother was asleep.
Footage from multiple locations, investigators tracked the suspect’s movements, leading to the accused’s arrest within 24 hours and the safe rescue of the infant, it said.
According to the government, once the registration number of a stolen vehicle is uploaded into the system, artificial intelligence continuously monitors its movement across the integrated CCTV network and immediately alerts police whenever the vehicle passes through a connected surveillance point, significantly reducing investigation time and improving recovery rates.
It said CCTV360 has supported investigations across the state, including vehicle theft cases in Vijayawada, Nandigama and other locations, besides helping solve several long-pending cases.
The platform has also emerged as an important tool in missing person investigations. Police recently traced a woman missing for an extended period in Mylavaram, located a missing girl on the same day a complaint was lodged at SR Peta police station and identified the movement of a missing person’s vehicle in Reddigudem, enabling officers to locate the individual safely.
The government said the success of RTGS CCTV360 demonstrates how artificial intelligence, supported by robust public infrastructure and responsive policing, can strengthen governance.
