Schneider Electric: Smart electrical panels, AI in homes to optimize energy use

Schneider Electric is adding layers of intelligence to electrical panels with the aim of making homes more efficient in energy usage. The move will enable seamless extraction of data on energy usage without requiring manual input from users.

Schneider Electric CEO Olivier Blum said that the pace of electrification has accelerated alongside AI, making processes more intelligent.

Pegged at $164.13 billion in 2026, Mordor Intelligence has projected the smart homes market to reach $311.22 billion by 2031. Factors such as device interoperability, retrofitting possibilities, and economies of scale continue to influence the pace of adoption of smart home solutions.
Speaking to CNBC-TV18 on the sidelines of an event in New Delhi, he said efforts are underway to develop more connectable technologies by extracting data from energy systems to enhance intelligence in the energy sector.

He added that making the electrical grid smarter would lead to better intelligence across its lifecycle.

Likening the current scenario to the fifth industrial revolution, he said the world is evolving from the dominance of alternating current (AC) to a more hybrid use of AC and direct current (DC).

He added that the company is working to automate, enhance intelligence, and digitalise operations to tap into the growing opportunity in energy intelligence in India, noting that “India has recognized electrification as the best and cleanest source of energy” for the future.
