“The test was carried out under the aegis of the Strategic Forces Command,” the ministry said.
The Agni 1 to 4 missiles have ranges from 700 km to 3,500 km and they have already been deployed.
Earlier on September 24, 2025, India successfully conducted the first rail-based test of the intermediate-range ballistic missile Agni-Prime.
The test, conducted in collaboration with the Strategic Forces Command, was carried out from a Rail-based Mobile Launcher under a full operational scenario. This marks the first launch of its kind, showcasing enhanced mobility, rapid reaction capability, and low-visibility deployment.
According to DRDO, the indigenously developed missile can strike targets at a range of up to 2,000 kilometres, strengthening India’s strategic deterrence capabilities. Officials said the successful test demonstrates the system’s effectiveness in offering cross-country mobility and flexible deployment options, critical for operational readiness.
